ABOUT US

The Endometriosis and Adenomyosis Foundation is a non-profit organization registered in Nigeria, Registration number: 146410

OUR MISSION

We are committed to improving patient outcomes through five core objectives:

Driving government policy to prioritize menstrual health, expanding public awareness, providing accessible support networks, championing systemic advocacy and mobilizing resources to propel the research necessary for better treatments and an eventual cure.

Endometriosis and Adenomyosis

Endometriosis and Adenomyosis are both disorders of the endometrial tissue that lines the cavity of the uterus. Although they share some symptoms, they develop differently and may require different treatments. In endometriosis the endometrial tissue similar to that which lines the interior of the uterus spreads outside of it. The growth can breach nearby organs like the ovaries and bladder.

Adenomyosis happens when endometrial cells grow within the wall of the uterus. These misplaced cells follow the menstrual cycle, bleeding monthly. The uterus wall thickens and causes pain and heavy bleeding. It is sometimes called internal endometriosis.
